OnePlus X: Quick Review

The OnePlus X is the Chinese company’s third smartphone. At $249, the OnePlus X is the company’s most affordable handheld ever. The OnePlus X has been launched in two versions – an Onyx variant and a limited-edition Ceramic variant. The One Plus X is a gorgeous smartphone, and it packs a beautiful display and a capable feature set as well.

Display

OnePlus has equipped the X with a 5in, Full HD AMOLED screen.The screen is an active-matrix OLED with a resolution of 1,080 by 1920 pixels (441ppi).
The company has for the first time added an AMOLED display in its smartphone, which generates rich colours – pleasing to eyes.
The OnePlus X is a gorgeous smartphone, and it packs a beautiful display and a capable feature set as well.

Design

The phone easily fits in the palm and is an ideal size for a smartphone. With a thickness of 6.99 mm and weight 138 grams (for Onyx), the phone feels quite light.
OnePlus includes a basic, rubbery, plastic case in the box – this makes the phone grippier still and a tad more drop-resistant. Another nice touch is the fact a screen protector is preinstalled to keep the layer of Gorilla Glass 3 scratch-free.

Camera

OnePlus says the X is built “from the most advanced sensors,” with autofocus that’s “blazingly fast.” The device sports a 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture, which is nice and wide for low light shooting.
The device also has Phase Detection AF, which promises to focus on subjects in as little as 0.2 seconds.

Software

The OnePlus X runs OxygenOS 2.1.2, a custom fork of Android 5.1.1
Oxygen OS is very much a stock Android look and feel. This means you get pretty much all the same bits and pieces compared to getting a Nexus device including the notification bar and recent apps.

A couple of other features, such as displaying notifications on the lock screen and waking the display when your hand is nearby are nice additions.
You can also change LED notification colours to reflect your own preferences.

Hardware

It features a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) Amoled screen and is powered by a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. It has 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, and also supports storage expansion using a microSD card (up to 128GB). The phone also has a 13-megapixel rear camera with flash and a f/2.2 aperture; an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with a f/2.4 aperture; and a non-removable 2525mAh battery.

HTC One A9 Review: An iphone from HTC

Founded in 1997 as a laptop manufacturer, Taiwan-based HTC soon began making smartphones based on Windows Mobile and Brew. It released the first commercial Android smartphone, the HTC Dream, in 2008, and is today a manufacturer of both Android and Windows based smartphones. HTC re-entered the tablet market with the Google Nexus 9 in 2014.

The HTC One A9 is among the first smartphones to launch with the latest Android Marshmallow operating system onboard.

The HTC One A9 features the same 5in 1920×1080 Full HD display seen on its One M9 sibling, complete with the same Gorilla Glass 4 coating.

Design

The HTC One A9 looks pretty much similar to the iPhone 6.
The A9’s physical presence is soft, curved and relatively minimalist. The back is mostly flat, and furnished in brushed, patterned aluminum, and it comes in silver, dark gray and gold colours. there’s also a dark-red version.

Hardware

It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, 2GB and 16GB of internal storage. There’s a Micro-SD card slot which can, HTC tells us, take up to 2TB.
Beneath the 5-inch display you’ll find a stubbornly-placed HTC logo above an One M9+-style fingerprint scanner, allowing for biometric security to lock your phone. The process of setting up the fingerprint is nice and clear
The One A9 supports High Res 24bit audio though including upscaling and a DAC (digital to analogue converter).The phone does support Quick Charge 2.0 for topping it up quickly.

Connectivity

The HTC One A9 is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone that accepts a Nano-SIM. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer.

Camera

The new HTC One A9 flagship phone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera and an Ultrapixel front-facer.

That front-facing Ultrapixel camera once again sports an optional countdown timer so you can pull your best pout after pushing the shutter button. You can shoot up to 4.1-megapixels in 16:9, with a 1.2-megapixel option for 4:3 snaps, and there’s built-in HDR for tricky lighting conditions as well as an optional ‘live makeup’ feature that’s basically a beauty mode. You can also record 1080p video.
The HTC One A9 can shoot video up to a maximum resolution of 1080p HD, with no option to record in 4K (unlike the One M9).

Hidden Features of iOS 9

Ios 9 came with several hidden features and which are very useful. There are nice features to improve battery life, and tweaks that improve the security of you iOS device, along with small tweaks that makes the experience of using your device that little bit better.

So Here is a list of features that you may not have spotted on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Private Browsing

Private Browsing is improved in ios 9. Now if you switch app using app switcher in ios 9. The safari tab will appear blank.

Update Scheduling 

Now with ios 9 you can schedule your os updates, which will allow your device to update during that time, like while you are sleeping. The device must be connected to power.

Auto Lock Timer

The auto-lock now can be set from 30 seconds in ios 9 which was 1 minute in previous ios.

Wi-Fi Assist

There is a new feature called Wi-Fi Assist in ios 9 which automatically uses your mobile data when Wi-Fi connectivity is poor.
I would recommend you to switch it off if you don’t have unlimited data plan.
For doing that Go to Settings > Cellular then scroll all the way to the bottom of the page then turn off Wi-Fi Assist.

Jump right into Wallet

Instead of having to unlock your iPhone 5S, 6 or 6 Plus to access the new Wallet app, you can jump directly into it just by double tapping TouchID from the lock screen.

Batteries widget

Open the Notification Centre and add the Battery widget. You will see the battery level of your iPhone, and also all paired devices like Apple Watch or Bluetooth headphones. It also has a tiny icon there to let you know if the device is charging.
Note You can get this widget only if your phone to Apple Watch, otherwise you won’t be able to see it.

Return to app

Moving between apps is a lot easier on iOS 9. If an app opens a link in another app, you’ll be able to get back to the first app without needing the app switcher. For example, if you open a link in the Messages app, it will open in Safari. To return to the app, just tap the Back to Messages link on the top-left.

Spotlight calculator

Spotlight search can now be used as a calculator and currency converter. You can also perform basic calculations using the search bar.

Quickly select photos

Now with ios 9, just slide your finger over a bunch of photos and you will see that they’re all getting selected. This is much faster than manually tapping each photo to select it.

Paste and go

Copy a URL and tap and hold the address bar in Safari. This will reveal a Paste and Go button. If you copy any other search term, this button changes to Paste and Search.

Nexus 5X Review: Meet the new Nexus from LG

Google unveiled two Nexus phones, two new streaming devices, and a tablet at Tuesday event.Google showcased a series of highly-anticipated new products like Nexus phones, next generation Chromecast streaming devices, and a fuller picture of the app development opportunities on the new Android operating system (OS).

Among the Nexus phones one of them is the LG Nexus 5X. LG and Google are back with a new flagship Android smartphone: the 5.2-inch Nexus 5X.

The LG Nexus 5X has a 5.2-inch 1080p (423ppi) IPS LCD, a six-core 1.8GHz Snapdragon 808, 2GB of RAM, a 2700mAh battery, a 12.3MP rear camera with laser autofocus, a 5MP front camera, and 16GB or 32GB of storage. There’s a 2,700mAh battery inside and a USB-C charging connector .The Nexus 5X has a plastic body that comes in white, black, and light blue.
There is also a fingerprint sensor on the rear called Nexus Imprint.

Iphone 6S Review: The only thing that’s changed is everything.

This is an S year for the iPhone, which means the basic physical design of the phone has remained the same while the internals have been substantially revised and made faster.
The iPhone 6 was already a remarkably powerful phone — still holding its own against even the more recent Android superphones like the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 — but there are improvements in the 6S that make it feel like a much bigger upgrade than you might expect.
Naturally, the new features are getting the most attention. By my count, there are three this year: 3D Touch, Live Photos, and upgrades to the front-facing camera.

Design

Apple chose to keep the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus’ physical design the same, but now offers a rose gold aluminum finish in addition to the silver, space gray, and gold versions.

The new iPhones are made out of the new 7000 series aluminum that was used on the Apple Watch.On the surface everything about the iPhone 6S appears the same as the earlier iPhone 6. The form is the familiar finish, complete with curved glass, curved edges, and a polished exterior. But if you read the specs then you’ll see the two devices are ever so slightly different: the iPhone 6S measures 138.3 x 67.1 by 7.1mm and weighs 143g compared to the older iPhone 6 which measures 138.1 x 67.0 x 6.9mm and weighs 129g.

Hardware

Apple’s iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are powered by the A9 64-bit processor, which boasts a new transistor architecture for better energy efficiency. Apple says it’s 70 percent faster than the A8 at CPU tasks, and 90 percent faster at graphics tasks than the A8. An onboard M9 co-processor is always on to track steps and other fitness metrics. The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus support LTE Advanced, so it should be twice as fast, and Apple supports 23 frequency bands. Wi-Fi is allegedly twice as fast, too.
The iPhone 6S has a new Touch ID sensor that is “faster than ever,” which should improve the Apple Pay experience greatly.

Camera

At 12MP, instead of 8MP, the new cameras produce sharper photos. The difference is particularly noticeable when cropping or enlarging photos for printing. Samsung’s high-end phones are at 16MP, but their images are wider. More important is getting your shot in focus, and the automatic focus on both cameras is good.
Other improvements in the iPhone’s camera result in better contrast and less distortion than before. The iPhones reproduce colours more accurately.

For video, the iPhone can now record at Ultra HD, also known as 4K. The Plus model also has better anti-shake technology, so scenes don’t look as though you’re on a boat. Still images on the front camera improve to 5MP, from 1.2MP, the new iPhone’s screen functions as a flash so faces come out when snapping selfies in bars and other low-light settings. This is rare in smartphones.

The iPhone 6s would carry a 1715 mAh battery.
In order to keep the new models as thin as their predecessors while adding the new pressure-sensing 3D Touch feature. Apple had to go with a slightly smaller battery.
The battery on the iPhone 6S is actually a tiny bit smaller than the iPhone 6. One thing that will help the iPhone 6S last longer than the previous iPhone is the introduction of Low Power Mode. Available to all iPhones running iOS 9 rather than a specific new feature of the 6S, the new mode shuts down all non-essential functions to extend the battery life of the phone.

Live Photos

With the iPhone 6s  Apple is adding Live Photos—1.5 seconds before and after the still picture—that let you glimpse the movement and sound that went with it. It’s not a video, but a full-on 12-megapixel photo that animates for up to 3 seconds when you press on it with 3D Touch.

3D TOUCH

One of the flagship features of the iPhone 6S is 3D Touch. Underneath the Retina HD display is a new capacitive pressure sensor and a taptic engine that’s part of the A9 chip. The idea is the screen knows how hard or soft you press and reacts accordingly.
3D Touch is a pressure-sensitive layer that’s been added to the iPhone’s display, allowing you to access shortcuts and previews when you press down on an icon or link. You can jump to a new text or a frequently called phone number from the home screen, see a preview of a message in your inbox, check the pictures on your camera roll without leaving the camera app. It’s a bit like right-clicking on a mouse.

You can adjust the strength of 3D Touch in the accessibility settings, setting it firmer or softer. The standard setting worked well for me, but if you’re having problems activating the feature, try lowering it to “light sensitivity” to make it easier to activate.

Meizu Pro 5: Quick Review

Meizu has revealed the new high-end Meizu Pro 5 handset during its Go Pro media event.
This is reportedly the biggest, most elaborate unveiling in company history.

Meizu has also changed its logo after 12 years.

The Meizu Pro 5 features a 5.7-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080, 387 PPI) Super AMOLED 2.5D display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it. The device will be available in two variants, the first model will sport 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB of native storage, while the second variant will ship with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Both of these variants will support microSD expansion though, in case you need more storage. As leaks suggested, this device is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor, the same one you’ll find in all of Samsung’s flagships this year. This chip ships with a Mali T760 GPU for graphics, and is built on a 14nm manufacturing process.

It also has better interaction, visual and animation.

The speaker resembles a pencil box, and is priced at 199 Yuan, which roughly translates to $32 or Rs 2,045.

The body is made of aluminum which provides a very premium look with dimensions of 168×24.5x58mm. It also just weighs 270 grams. There’s an Auxiliary in port (AUX) as well, so you can connect your devices to the speakers that way.

This device comes with a microSD card slot to play music and also has a built-in microphone so that user can attend the call when connected to your smartphone. Further, this device automatically pauses the music track when user gets call and playbacks automatically with out pressing any buttons.

Xiaomi Mi4C Review: Everything at a glance

More than a year after launching the Xiaomi Mi4 smartphone, Xiaomi is introducing an updated model called the Mi4C. It has a faster processor, comes with a choice of colorful case options, and a USB Type C connector.

The event is happened at Bangalore International Exhibition Center. It promises to be one of the biggest mobile app developer summits in India.

Keynotes:

• Smartphones took just 8 years to hit the 1 billion user mark. In comparison the internet took 14 years.

• 350 million internet users in India. The number is expected to double by 2020

• Shocking fact. Less than 2% of top 1000 apps are Indian and none are in the top 100. Dailyhunt is the fastest growing Indian app

• The average Indian has 17 apps on their smartphone. 33% of phones sold in India have 512MB of RAM

• Data packs in India cost 6 times as much as USA. Operators should really do something about it. Despite 4G LTE rolling out in India like wildfire, over 70% of Indians still use 2G connections. 50% of internet users in India are between the age of 18 and 23.

• India is set to become the largest developer base by 2018.

• India will overtake the US in smartphone sales within 2 years.

• Mobile ad revenue set to increase from 70 billion US$ to 200 billion in 2019.
